This time last year I sat in church listening to Bishop T.D Jakes preach on “A Call To Action”. At one point he mentioned being in the eleventh hour and the feeling of giving up. He said, “if you’re tired, you can’t harvest. So never say you’re tired.” By this time, I thought I was tired. Tired of my then circumstances. Hopeful of what was to come; and praying that it was here, because I felt like I had already waited so long, and had nothing left to give. While many people continuously told me what God would do for me in 2017, I knew he could turn my circumstances around during the 20 days left in 2016. I changed my attitude and told myself that no matter what, I was going to have a good week. And I meant that NO MATTER WHAT, I was going to have a good week. As Joyce Meyer says, “where the mind goes, the man follows.”
How often do we start our day with a negative mindset?
How often do we wish away our lives, just so we can get to Friday, bypassing all that Monday-Thursday has to offer?
I left service looking forward to whatever was in store for me that week. On my way to the car, a guy walked by me, stopped and said, “God’s about to bless you. I don’t know why I said that, but God is about to bless you.” You don’t have to tell me twice!! I quickly responded “I believe it, and I receive it.”
I had been interviewing at least twice a week for the previous 6 weeks, and was waiting expectantly for a job offer to a company I really wanted to work for, people I wanted to work with, and financial increase. That Tuesday I received an email to interview for a position I didn’t apply for. My friend forgot to tell me she passed along my resume, but knew I would be interested in the job. I interviewed the following day. I had a second interview that Friday. My references were requested the following week, and on 12/27 I was offered the job that would then start two weeks later, and turned out to be greater than what I expected.
Sometimes we get too caught up in looking forward to what the new year will bring, that we overlook what the current day holds.
The year isn’t over yet, and God can turn your circumstance around at any given moment. As tempting as it is to mentally run to 2018, 2017 still has a lot to offer.
Let’s finish strong!
